LOCAL BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT: Baxter & Sons Roasters

If there is one thing we love almost as much as real estate, its great coffee.

And what better coffee could there be than a blend named after our very own Hills District? And Baxter & Sons Roasters offer just that! They have dubbed one of their blends ‘The Hills’ in honour of the area their roastery calls home.

Based on Bowers Road South in Everton Hills, these local micro-roasters are passionate about sourcing, importing, roasting and selling exceptional coffee. They roast each new coffee to bring out the best and tastiest characteristics and are one of few roasteries to cup what they roast on a daily basis.

Our very own Sam Landon, pictured below with a bag of The Hills blend, likes to pop in there for a brew regularly.

Not only does he love coffee and supporting local business, he holds the people running the operation in high regard. He describes them as:

“Young, passionate, dedicated, hardworking. All the qualities I like and admire in business owners.”

These coffee aficionados, as Sam calls them, are Brendan and Lara Baxter.

A definite authority on coffee, Brendan starting working for Merlo while at university and was shown how to roast from Dean Merlo.

He left in 2011 and had stints overseas on coffee plantations. He started up Bean Green in 2011, selling green or raw coffee to coffee roasters. He is also now a certified grader of coffees. This takes him all over the world.

His wife Lara, who has a hospitality background, manages the couple’s cafes around Brisbane, including The Crampton Social in Keperra.

As well as importing, roasting and selling coffees, Baxter & Sons also runs courses to the public on all things coffee.

These guys can teach you how to brew, froth, roast and cup the perfect coffee. You can also get a coffee subscription and all your brewing equipment online or from their Everton Hills warehouse.

Like us, they strongly believe in supporting other local businesses and use local suppliers where ever possible, including yummy baked offerings from places such as the Northside Artisan Bakers & Co.

So if you love your coffee as much as we do, pop down to Baxter & Sons Roasters or The Crampton Social and treat yourself while supporting local.

Let’s catch up for a coffee from ‘The Hills’ blend and talk about your real estate interests.
