Our very own Sam Landon, pictured below with a bag of The Hills blend, likes to pop in there for a brew regularly.
Not only does he love coffee and supporting local business, he holds the people running the operation in high regard. He describes them as:
“Young, passionate, dedicated, hardworking. All the qualities I like and admire in business owners.”
These coffee aficionados, as Sam calls them, are Brendan and Lara Baxter.
A definite authority on coffee, Brendan starting working for Merlo while at university and was shown how to roast from Dean Merlo.
He left in 2011 and had stints overseas on coffee plantations. He started up Bean Green in 2011, selling green or raw coffee to coffee roasters. He is also now a certified grader of coffees. This takes him all over the world.
His wife Lara, who has a hospitality background, manages the couple’s cafes around Brisbane, including The Crampton Social in Keperra.
